SSgt DiPaolo, his wife Michelline and their daughters regularly attended our monthly art classes at the Palo Alto VA Hospital and brought so much laughter, joy and encouragement to other wounded, ill and injured service members and their families. Watching the DiPaolo Family triumph over adversity while never leaving each other’s side was truly incredible. 2017 No-Cost Laser Eye Surgery Gift of Sight Program
October 26, 2017

For the third consecutive year, The Cost of Courage Foundation partnered with Furlong Vision Correction to offer no-cost Laser Eye Surgery to 7 homeless/disadvantaged local Veterans as part of the annual Gift of Sight Program! This donation of nearly $50,000 worth of LASIK is truly life-changing for our Veteran recipients. To date, 18 Veterans have received the no-cost surgery amounting to over $130,000! Following their surgery, those Veterans have been able to obtain and maintain gainful employment and, in several cases, complete their education now that vision troubles no longer limit their abilities. We are so grateful for our partnership with Dr. Furlong and his staff and look forward to Gift of Sight next year!

From the bottom of our hearts we thank the USS Hornet for giving us the opportunity to speak and for providing a wreath for us to bring to Golden Gate National Cemetery where Sgt.
